Nephrology

Today I had a follow-up appointment at the office of my newest specialist, a nephrologist. The reason for the referral here was an inability to keep my potassium levels up despite supplemental medication and dietary changes.
A normal level for potassium in the blood is between 3.5 and 5.2, while mine consistently ran around 2.5.
Another problem in this arena is that ever since I got sick, my blood pressure has been out of normal range as well, today reading at 160/110. I do take several meds to control this but none have worked well.

SO that brings me to lab work today. I have what is suspected to be hyperaldosteronism.
I will have a follow-up CT scan to check for growths etc., and will update on this later, to an apparently growing crowd. I’ve already gotten a bunch of follower notifications. Thank you all.

In the meantime, meet my home caretaker. Her name is Lacy and she is a pro at good company. Have a great night everyone.

  1. It is so uplifting to have a caretaker like Lacy. A few years after my dx with DM, I got my first ever pets 2 Tonkinese cats. My Mom thought it was a mistake given all that I was dealing with. That is until she saw me interacting with them. Then she knew how much it helped me especially I was at home alone so much of the time.

  2. Lacy’s presence has been incredible. It means something extra to have her to wake up to and play with throughout the day. I wasn’t expecting her impact, and I’m happy that you’ve had a similar experience Chris.
