After a week of talking to my specialists it looks like the consensus from them is to move forward with the surgery. Part of this is because they do not know whether or not the tumor is benign, and the only way to know for sure is to remove it. Although the risk factor is higher, the potential rewards are greater.
I see the surgeon for a consultation on Thursday, which will be two years to the day that I was first officially diagnosed with dermatomyositis. It’s been a tough couple of years but I believe I have learned a lot about myself and my life. It has put things in perspective for my life and future.
This week I’ve also enjoyed a great visit from my mom, who lives in Texas. It’s always an awesome experience seeing either one of my parents and I appreciate everything that they do and stand for.
Talk soon!
