Over the last few weeks I have added physical therapy sessions at the hospital on the off days from pulmonary/cardiac rehab. These sessions are relatively short and consist of stretches and massage mostly. For something so simple, it is proving to be an absolutely priceless piece of my recovery journey.
Certain pockets of pain that are recurring in my neck and back are better controlled while I m consistently going to these appointments. In addition, I have been introduced to techniques that seem to be opening my breathing better than it has been in some time. Coupled with the conditioning at rehab, this one-two punch has me really hopeful. My immediate future involves being at the hospital almost every day, but we do what we have to do right?
To anyone having chronic pain and/or breathing involvement with your myositis, I urge you to at least ask your primary doc about physical therapy. It’ll be a part of my routine going forward.
I am glad that you are doing better and you are right when you state “you do what you have to do.” My hubby now sees his chiropractor on a regular basis. Guess that stubborn male pride thing finally caved in. HA!
