Radio Silence

I’ve had two ER visits over the weekend in order to battle some problems with breathing and just overall feeling sick. Once just hours after the last infusion and then again on Sunday night. I find myself having another hard night now, with some pretty radical shakiness, nausea, shortness of breath and brain fog.

Knowing that the infusions would take some time to work, I was always at the mercy of the side effects from my medicine as well as the flare from the myositis in the meantime. It was unavoidable, and left me with no other choice but to brace for impact.

It made me think of a common scene you see in films, where astronauts have to slingshot around the moon and use the gravity to head back to Earth. Once they disappear on the other side, they go into radio silence and a period of intensity and pain that can only be endured in silence. Once the slingshot is complete, things calm down and the return home can begin.

I have a few more weeks yet to make it around the moon, but I am definitely holding on tight, and I look forward to getting closer to home soon.
