After a solid month or more of being sick and battling various symptoms, I’ll finally be headed back into Rituxan infusions on the 15th of March. While I’m aware that it won’t help immediately, the point is to always be making progress and for that I am very excited. Of course, there are a slew of side effects that can occur with this, but since I’ve had it once before the larger risks should largely be dealable.
For those that do not know, Rituxan is a newer type of chemotherapy drug , targeting B cells. Dermatomyositis does not have a specific treatment, and so it (and other Myositis variants) rely on a slew of other treatments that have been known to slow the disease down. Today will be a good day. The Kansas Jayhawks will play in-state rivals Kansas State in the Big 12 Tournament. I have only one appointment, my brother is in town visiting and most importantly, I have acquired girl scout cookies. Life shall be lived today.
