After I posted the other day during my time in Kansas City..well things actually got slightly worse. I ended up having to go to the ER in KC from not being able to move air and pain/weakness. They helped my symptoms and I was off to my appointment.
Concerning the surgery, basically I’m waiting on all of my specialists (rheumatology, pulmonology, cardiology, nephrology, endocrinology and primary) to approve the surgery and ensure I will be able to recover from I safely. It is important for them to remember that I am immuno-suppressed, so bouncing back from a surgery is something tough on my body. So, I have more appointments on the 14th with anesthesia, surgery and endocrinology in order to get the final approvals and get a date for the surgery, which will probably be some time in the latter half of September.
Speaking of immuno-suppression, when I got back from Kansas City I was still feeling sick and having trouble moving air. Saturday morning I woke up in really bad shape and ended up back in the Lawrence ER being checked for pneumonia, which really upset me because I had ordered pizza to watch my Jayhawks play 😦
Anyways, it turns out that I have an upper respiratory infection, again something that would typically be minor but tends to hit the immunosuppressed harder unfortunately. I’ve been home ever since sleeping, watching movies and popping Mucinex. I was really hoping to be able to go to church for the first time in quite some time this morning, but obviously avoiding crowds is important. I never forget that God is the one allowing me to wake up at all though.
So here I am on Sunday finally able to be at my desk and work on some school stuff. I’m looking forward to a hopefully more quiet beginning to the week, starting with a day off from class tomorrow! To everyone who has a 3-day weekend, you’ve earned it. Enjoy!
