The Cost of Care

Above is part of a breakdown from my insurance that I was reading last night. The first column is the cost of care and the second column is what insurance paid. Of course, in most instances I am left with the difference. I could go into a tirade about the current state of American health care costs but that wouldn’t get me anywhere. Instead I’ll just say that I sympathize and completely understand anyone who has ever had to go through a medical problem, big or small. The financial portion of this can be crippling to the wallet and the spirit.

I spend a lot of my time reaching out to the hospitals I frequent and other programs in order to try and alleviate some of the financial blow. My gofundme page was more of a success than suspected, and there are more programs to help with treatments and medications than I could have imagined. To anyone going through something similar, stay strong and keep trying. There is help out there, you just have to dig for it. I know firsthand how easy it is to get disheartened by this stuff, but it’s just one of many things we can’t let defeat us.

If anyone has experience with different programs or ideas that you can share with someone else that might need help reading this, please feel free to mention it in the comments.

Remember, if you’re able to read this…it is a good day 🙂
